Alex Tan Zhixiang is a cesspool of self-inflicted bitterness and hatred

Does anyone actually think that Alex Tan is capable of writing anything unbiased against Singapore?

The Real Singapore, Straits/State Times Review, etc etc... all these are the hatred-filled cesspools in which Alex Tan manufactures tall tales filled with illogical reasoning  from his deranged mind.

Is this the end of States Times Review?

Well, well, who would have thought that this day would finally come so soon?.

States Times Review (STR), the website  cesspool of bullshit, fake news and twisted lies sprouted by one Alex Tan Zhixiang is no longer accessible in Singapore as of 9 Nov 2018.

On 5 Nov 2018, Alex Tan had published an article titled "Lee Hsien Loong becomes 1MDB’s key investigation target" on STR.  The article made several serious allegations about PM Lee and the IMBD scandal.

Alex Tan alleged that Malaysia had signed several unfair agreements with Singapore in exchange for Singapore banks’ assistance in laundering the funds of 1MDB.

Alex Tan also claimed that the editor of Sarawak Report, Ms Clare Rewcastle, had revealed in an interview with Malaysian media that "Singapore is one of the key investigation targets, alongside Switzerland and United States" in the 1MDB scandal.

This claim was categorically rejected by Sarawak Report who responded to this claim on Thursday by calling it "erroneous" and disowned the remarks. It also sought a correction from States Times Review. "SR has not given any such interview and has not written on this subject," Sarawak Report said in a Facebook post.

Further more, SR had also acknowledged the role that MAS had played in "unravelling corruption linked to the fund"

Alex Tan was ordered take down the STR article by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) by 5pm on 9 Nov, failing which IMDA would then direct Internet Service Providers to restrict access to the site.

Obviously, Alex Tan refused to do so

Subsequently, STR was blocked after the deadline lapsed.

Soon after, Alex Tan announced on the STR Facebook page that the "States Times Review Facebook page will be shut down "two weeks from now" while the website will remain until the end of the next General Elections."

Is this the really last time that we will hear from Alex Tan?

Well, let's see how trust worthy Alex Tan's words are from his track record social media posts.

Nope, he definitely didn't keep to his word on this.

Freedom of Speech? Where got?

Anyway, it is very unlikely that this will be the last we hear from Alex Tan.

He is simply too self-delusional and egotistical to give it up. It will be a matter of time before Alex Tan returns to pollute cyberspace with his delusional bullshit again.

But in the meantime, please always fact-check what you read on the Internet before you get conned or lied to. Don't let yourself be made a fool.

A low life psychopathic despicable leech

So in the mist of the Workers' Party MPs' civil case over the gross mismanagement of AHTC /AHPETC, there appears to be some in-fighting amongst the anti-PAP/opposition quarter - specifically between Goh Meng Seng and Alex Tan Zhixiang.

You can read Goh's full Facebook post below.

Goh is not very far off from the truth when he says that Alex Tan, is "...just whipping up irrational, sensational and emotional anti PAP ranting to leech on those hardcore opposition supporters to earn money via his website, Statestime Review."

Just goes to show, even amongst the die-hard Opposition in Singapore, Alex Tan is considered to be a pariah.

It doesn't matter which political party or ideology you support. What is most needed in Singapore's political discourse is not shrill irrational voices shouting but a dispassionate debate which is based on only verifiable facts.

Despicable leeches like Alex Tan who is pretending to be an opposition activist fighting for Singapore's well-being but in reality he is spreading fake, misleading and sensational news and commentary so that he can make money off web advertisements on his site. The more angry and irrational he can make people, the more internet traffic (and hence more web ad revenue)  he can attract to his site.

There's nothing wrong if you don't like and don't support the PAP govt.

But you should still keep a clear unbiased mind, look at verifiable facts from independent, reliable sources (NOT states times review) before you make a judgement or criticize. Don't be mislead or trick by people with dubious personal agendas.

Historian(?) turned Professional liar fails in latest attempt to alter history

The notoriously incompetent historian (?) turned Professional Liar Thum Ping Tjin, was called out for attempting to alter history ... yet again.

Liar Thum had attempted to make people believe that Lee Kuan Yew’s 1985 address to the US Congress was not well received by posting a cartoon that cast doubt on how the event went.

Liar Thum then went on to implied that Lee Kuan Yew’s stellar international reputation was just made-up by “the government-controlled media”.

However, due to his sheer incompetence and failure to fact-check (a trait that should be second-nature for historians), Liar Thum did not realize that there was a YouTube video (with over 90k views) of that very same speech by Lee Kuan Yew. Thus adding yet another dismal attempt to his resume of misleading people and attempting to revise history with his own brand of interpretation.

Here's the link to that YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6CZ3C0niPg
See 3:15, 4:11, 5:26 and for Standing ovation at 9:47.

However, even when caught pants-down-and-on-fire, Liar Thum still tried to play dumb in hopes of pushing away the responsibility for his failed lie onto the International Herald Tribune.

Liar Thum must think people are stupid enough not to see through his ploy. Don’t you think you should have fact-checked before posting this, Liar Thum? In the age of Google search, there is simply no reason not to. Got more stupidly cock person or not?

Liar Thum, no one is stopping you from criticizing Lee Kuan Yew.

But using lies, half-truths and ignoring inconvenient facts to shape your “new narrative” of history is just a dick move. And it shows the severe lack of integrity and honor in your character, and how lowly you think of S'poreans that they would simply believe the rubbish you sprout.

A Wolf in Sheep's clothing

Thum Ping Tjin or PJ Thum, grabbed headlines when he made a submission to the Select Committee on Deliberate Online Falsehoods, where he made the most ridiculous claim:

There is clear source of “fake news” which has spread falsehoods, with major impact, and hitherto escaped sanction. That is the politicians of Singapore’s People’s Action Party.
The major examples of this are the numerous detentions under the Internal Security Act (ISA, and its predecessor, the Preservation of Public Security Ordinance) from 1963 to 1987.
Beginning with Operation Coldstore in 1963, politicians have told Singaporeans that people were being detained without trial on national security grounds due to involvement with radical communist conspiracies to subvert the state.
Declassified documents have proven this to be a lie.
Operation Coldstore was conducted for political purposes, and there was no evidence that the detainees of Operation Coldstore were involved in any conspiracy to subvert the government. (See Thum’s full submission here)

However his claim, as well as any credibility he had as a “historian” was soon shot to tiny little worthless pieces when it was revealed during the public hearing that Thum did not include, or chose to ignore any references and materials that would have contradicted his belief, including accounts from Chin Peng who was the chief of the Communist Party of Malaya.

Can PJ Thum be called an objective historian when he disregarded the leader of MCP claims that Operation Coldstore shattered the communist network in Singapore?

Posted by Shut down TRS on Monday, April 2, 2018

And what was his reason for this particular exclusion?  Thum rejected Chin Peng as 'unreliable' and as 'not true'. And yet, according to Thum, he has never explain any where in his work why Chin Peng's memoirs should be disregarded.

Would you believe this “historian” who selectively choses his material to write the “history” that he wants to Singaporeans to believe?

During the public hearing, Home Affairs and Law Minister Shanmugam essentially tore apart Thum's submission and claims over 6 hours, where Thum persisted in avoiding giving a straight answer to the Minster's questions on the veracity of Thum's claims.

Thum's supporters will say that Thum won out. But how does another historian view Thum’s “work” (from 2014!)?

“There are two main problems with Thum’s argument. First, he argues – citing Selkirk’s contemporaneous concerns – that at the time of Coldstore there was no direct evidence that Lim Chin Siong and other detainees were engaged in actual Communist subversion.
But the records do show that even careful British officials conceded that Lim was a skilful CUF operative and other detainees possessed a recent history of subversive activities.
Tunku also agreed that the detentions on preventive grounds were necessary. This was prudent.  CPM elements within the utterly penetrated Barisan Socialis that was challenging the PAP for power never ruled out switching strategy to armed violence at any time.  Historian T.N. Harper hence considers Selkirk’s attempted distinction between ‘political’ and ‘security’ grounds for detention as ‘problematic’.
Second, Thum emphasizes how Tunku and Selkirk disliked Lee’s personality and byzantine political machinations. But CUF leaders – said to possess ‘animal cunning’ themselves – in fact regarded the tactically agile Lee as the only serious obstacle to their plans to establish Communist rule in Singapore.
British envoy in Kuala Lumpur Geofroy Tory sympathized with Lee’s position, warning that playing by ‘Queensbury rules’ with the unscrupulous Communists would be folly.  Ultimately, cautious British officials in Singapore conceded that in view of what historian S. J. Ball called the ‘ruthless, fast-moving and mendacious’ nature of local politics at the time, Lee Kuan Yew, warts and all, was ‘the only man who can run this city’.
Kumar Ramakrishna, Revising the Revisionists: Operation Coldstore in History (Read the full article here)

Another blogger even provides a copy of the letters and documents from the British Archives that showed how serious the communist threat was in Singapore during that era.

It is extremely troubling that a highly educated person like Thum would show such a poor regard for historical facts and objective assessment. Thum selectively choses

Not to mention, those stupid moronic faces that he made during the Select Committee hearing just shows how much regard he has for Parliament. Why participate and make a mockery of the process if you don't believe in it?

Because of your irresponsible antics, you have deprived others of airtime when they had also prepared serious submissions to the Select Committee.

Why we have little to no confidence in SG's "Activists"

Tell me lah.. how to believe or support these Activists when they have a credibility/trust issue?

You can be passionate about your cause BUT that does not give you (or your cause) the license to bend the truth or manufacture half-truths or cast any baseless aspersions. Such actions neither aids you, nor help the cause you are championing.

In fact, in the eyes of the public, such lies will destroy any shred of credibility you or your cause may have - no matter how worthy the cause.

Source: FLOP FB Page
It is not called a "raid" for nothing. You think that these criminal elements are going to play nice when they are about to be arrested for their illegal activities? Grow some brain-cells can?

And further more, by casting such baseless accusations at the police, you are putting the interests of one group (ie: sex workers) over the interests of another group (ie: the police/general public).

Who are you to decide whose interests are more important? Are you saying the for the sake of your interests/cause, the ends justify the means?

The trust between the public and the police is paramount. It allows the police to carry out their work without any unnecessary duress or bias, and it enables the public to believe that the police are carrying out their duties without favor or fear, to the spirit as well as the letter of the law.

Look at what is happening in other countries where there is low trust/respect between the police and the public. Justice takes a back seat to all the political bickering and posturing. There are charges of corruption and abuse of power being thrown about. The police force becomes increasingly ineffective against crime and are regarded as lacking legitamacy in their actions. Crime levels go up. Is that what you want to see happening in S'pore? (See more here)

As such, any allegations of wrong-doing by the police must be properly reported to the appropriate authorities and be investigated.  And if any wrong-doing is found, either by the police or by the accuser, then the guilty parties must be punished according to the full-extend of the law.

And this is not just an isolated case of an Activist trying to stretch the truth in order to gain public sympathy.

Other NGOs/causes have been found to be taking a more than liberal interpretation of the facts when they post their "complaints" about the Govt or {Insert Govt agency name here}. (See here).

If you cannot advocate for your cause without dealing in the facts, then you are simply a waste of everyone's time. Don't pretend to be ignorant or claim innocent sharing on social media when you post such baseless accusations without any evidence.

Interestingly, she has already taken down her posts.

So what does that mean? The allegations made in her post are serious charges. And we believe if the police were found guilty of these charges, there would be serious consequences.

Was she lying? Does she stand by what she had posted? Or was it simply a vicious, unjustified and baseless attack on the police, made to advance her cause? If she truly believes what she posted, then she should be making a report to the police or CPIB. Where's her integrity?

And here is what K Shanmugam (Min. for Home Affairs and Law) had to say:

Chee Soon Juan tries to spin yet another lie

Sigh.. why is Chee Soon Juan agitating again for a By-Election?

There is nothing dubious or nefarious about why the Govt is not calling for a By-Election to fill the GRC seat vacated by Madam Halimah Yacob.

Madam Halimah Yacob resigned her position as MP for the Marsiling-Yew Tee Group Representative Constituency (GRC) to stand as a candidate for the Singapore Presidential Elections.

The main operative word(s) here being : "Group Representative Constituency (GRC)"

Section 24(2A) of the Parliamentary Elections Act clearly states that no writ of election can be issued unless ALL THE MPs in a GRC have vacated their seats in Parliament.

Source: Singapore Online Statues - Parliamentary Elections Act (Chapter 218), Section 24(2A)

Madam Halimah Yacob's resignation does not mean that all of the four seats of Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC are now empty. This is because the GRC still has three other MPs - Mr Lawrence Wong, Mr Alex Yam and Mr Ong Teng Koon.

And remember, the PAP Govt has never shied away from calling for a By-Election when it is required by the law, even if it meant that it may lose that seat to the opposition.

In 1981, PAP MP Devan Nair resigned to appointed as the President of Singapore. His resignation trigger the Anson By-Elections in which the PAP lost the single-seat constituency to then WP's J.B. Jeyaretnam. (Source)

In 2013, when PAP MP and Parliament Speaker Michael Palmer resigned due to personal indiscretions, the resulting By-Election resulted in PAP losing the single-seat constituency of Punggol East to the WP's Lee Li Lian.

The only GRC By-Election ever to have been held was in 1992 for Marine Parade GRC.

In this case, the GRC By-Election was trigger when ALL FOUR MPs (including then PM Goh Chok Tong) of the Marine Parade GRC had resigned from their seats. (Source)

Chee Soon Juan is simply lying when he says that "the Govt is refusing to call for a By-Election".

The facts here is simply, that our laws governing the GRC, does not require a By-Election to be held.

All things considered, Chee is simply just being Chee.

Character is indeed, permanent.

Chee Soon Juan tries his luck yet again.

CSJ eyes Marsiling-Yew Tee! But ddn't he promise his supporters that he would stay in Bukit Batok
and fight the next GE there? Onward Singapore

Note: We replace the original video soundtrack with something that we thought was more appropriate for this clown Chee. See the original video by Onward Singapore FB page here.

Chee Soon Juan is at it yet again.

He and his party is trying anything, and everything to agitate for a By-Election, so that Chee can have yet another shot at being elected into Parliament.

In a single seat constituency, the resignation of a MP automatically triggers a By-election.

This last happened for Bukit Batok constituency in 2016, where PAP MP David Ong had resigned due to personal indiscretions. Two candidates came forward - SDP's Chee Soon Juan (38.8% votes) and PAP's Murali Pillai (61.2% votes).

In 2017, Madam Halimah Yacob resigned her position as MP for the Marsiling-Yew Tee Group Representative Constituency (GRC) to stand as a candidate for the Singapore Presidential Elections.

What Chee would like you to believe, is that the Govt is flagrantly flouting the law by not calling for a By-Election to fill Madam Halimah Yacob's now empty seat in the GRC.

However, this is simply not the case.

Section 24(2A) of the Parliamentary Elections Act states that no writ of election can be issued unless ALL THE MPs in a GRC have vacated their seats in Parliament.

(2A)  In respect of any group representation constituency, no writ shall be issued under subsection (1) for an election to fill any vacancy unless all the Members for that constituency have vacated their seats in Parliament.
Parliamentary Elections Act (Chapter 218), Section 24(2A)

Madam Halimah Yacob's resignation does not mean that all of the four seats of Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC are now empty. This is because the GRC still has three other MPs - Mr Lawrence Wong, Mr Alex Yam and Mr Ong Teng Koon.

"Seriously, what makes Chee think by election is compulsory when one vacates the seat in a GRC?
Did he even read the constitution at all?" Pic: Shut Down TRS FB page

The 'FiveStarsAndaMoon Blog' also has a good summary on why the call for By-Elections cannot be mandatory here. Here's a quote:

Singapore’s system of election focuses on political parties rather than on individual candidates. Candidates represent their respective political parties, and the party that attains the highest number of elected candidates forms the government.
The governing party then receives its mandate through its candidates. For this reason, the Prime Minister retains “full discretion as to when and whether to call a by-election as the vacancy does not affect the mandate of the government”.
Ok, that is a mouthful, I’ll shorten it for you: A government had already been formed, there is no practical need to fill that one vacancy. The Government of the day will decide on whether or not an election should be called.
That had been the precedence since 2008 and if it should ever be reviewed in Court, this will continue to form the precedent.
FiveStarsAndaMoon

So Chee continues to act according to his character - selling snake oil  twisting facts and misleading his way around, hoping to one day be elected into Parliament.

You would think that after all these years of rejection from the voters, that Chee would have finally gotten the message.

After all, Chee has stood in open elections 5 times, and have never been elected.

Look at his track record. Can you really trust this snake man?

Deny, Deflect & Feign Innocence

Update: Here is the full AHTC Statement of Claim (Source: TODAY)

==================

While no one expects the WP MPs to just copulate to the AHTC lawsuit that has been brought against them by AHTC's Independent Panel, the reasons excuses given in their press statement is just too lame.

SO WHAT if you didn't profit from your own incompetence in managing AHTC?

Does that absolve you from any and all responsibility? You make the mistake(s), you pay the price (according to the full extend of the law).

Don't try to pretend it's ok simply because you didn't get any money out from it. Do you know what fiduciary duty means or not?

At your election rallies, you boldly claim that voters can trust you; that WP has more than 20 years of experience in running the Town Councils. And yet, year after year since then, your own appointed Auditors keeps on giving your Financial Statements a "Qualified Opinion". Do you even realize how cockup your accounts must be to be labelled as "qualified"??

If you can't even get running a local town council right, how can you even dare to think that you are qualified to be the "co-driver" and "check & balance" for the PAP, let alone aspire to be the SG government someday? As it is, the NMPs are already doing a far superior job of checking and balancing the PAP govt than you are. You didn't even bother to participate in the Public Consultation sessions for the amendments to the Elected Presidency. So why do the voters need you for?

And don't try to feign innocence by saying that your actions were in the best interests of your residents.

Even using the broadest definition of "Best interests of the residents", this can hardly include shoddy account practices and being unable to account clearly for how the public funds and resident monies have been used.

Is it "acting in good faith" when you continually playing the victim card; to deny the auditors access to documents; to go to Court to challenge the MND/HDB orders for you to open your books; to apply for Court gag orders to prevent pertinent information from being released into the public domain? Instead of wasting everyone's time by playing petty politics, why didn't you bother to fix the problems?

You even had the stupid balls to challenge the Parliament's authority to question you over the AHPETC accounts. Instead of giving straight answers, you said that you would only answer to your residents rather than answer/explain/account for your actions to the highest authority in Singapore. What happen to WP's manifesto of transparency and accountability? Is that all just bullshit to win votes?

You were given a golden opportunity in GE2011 to show Singapore that WP could be a honest, competent opposition party who would help to safeguard the interests of Singaporeans. Chee Soon Juan would have sold his soul for what the voters gave you in GE2011.

Yet, instead of building on that, you chose to squander away that opportunity to prove your worth.

Instead of working to improve the lives of your residents, you deliberately engaged in petty politics, blaming everyone else for your own failures instead of taking responsibility and fixing the problems.

Do you even realise that to date, you have not even apologize to your residents for this mother-of-all cockups?

So don't try to pretend that you are innocent and give all sorts of talkcock bullshit reasons.

It has been a long time coming that you should faced all of the consequences of your own actions and choices.

For disappointing your own voters and showing such gross incompetence and indifference, I really hope that you will be lose the lawsuit and subsequently lose your parliamentary seats.

Singapore does not need rotten duds like you to be our representatives in Parliament.

All-Singapore-Stuff (ASS) is being investigated for their Bullshit

Singapore’s fake news site, “All Singapore Stuff”, is being investigated for allegedly posting an article that claims the Police did not take any action after a report of underage sex was made. The article also claims that the Police even advised the girl to drop the case. The new report also made the claim that the girl’s school principal did not take her report seriously as well.

The investigation was initiated after a police report was “… lodged by a member of the public, whose identity is believed to have been misused as the contributor of the article.”

Is this a huge surprise? Nope.

“All Singapore Stuff” is well-known to be a fake-news site that intentionally posts exaggerated and often made up articles with sensational headlines on social media to attract attention (ie: “Clicks-to-website”) for generating web advertising revenue. Just look at their website - almost half of the page area is taken up by advertisements.

Articles are often written with a slant to stir up anti-PAP emotions with little regard to facts or the context of the situation, much like the defunct site “The Real Singapore”. Their “contributors” are almost always anonymous, and the articles are posted by an “editor” going by the name “Farhan”.

From time to time when their bull-shit is exposed, the site will simply defend themselves by claiming that any mistakes were “unintentional” and that the article/information was based on “contributions” from their readers - thus shifting their responsible for posting nonsense to all  to the "anonymous contributor". How convenient, isn't it?
In Nov 2016, “All Singapore Stuff” posted a alarmist article claiming that there was a collapse of the top floors of a HDB block in Punggol. The article went viral and caused so much public alarm that the police and SCDF were dispatched to investigate.

Which idiot you want to bluff? Building collapse and the first thing that "Bhagonwali" wants people to know is that BTO owners are unhappy about workmanship of their flats? What about those resident's safety and well-being? Was anyone hurt? Are there people still trapped? Have the authorities been notified? Aren't these points more pertinent to the news of the "collapse"?

This outrageous hoax was immediately debunked by both the HDB as well as Punggol residents on the same day. In this particular case, how hard would it be for the site editors to fact-check this "reader contribution" before posting it?

It is obvious that such an serious incident as a HDB floor collapsing would have immediately been reported to the police, SCDF, HDB etc. It would have been easy for the site to confirm the story.

But did the editor think or bother to check with the HDB, police or SCDF to verify the story?

Nope. Clearly All Singapore Stuff's priority was to first post the story first on their social media in order to drive web traffic to their site. Fact-checking is clearly not important to them, even in a situation as potentially serious and tragic as a building collapse.

As usual, “All Singapore Stuff” merely replaced the article with an "apology" and once again used the excuse that they were also taken in by the hoax, and conveniently shifted the hoax's responsibility to their "readers' contributions".

Facts and Truth be damned. Web-clicks and making money are more important to the people hiding behind sites like "All Singapore Stuff”

Sure, they've 'apologised' the spreading the hoax. But they have already benefited financially from the deluge of worried web-clicks to their website.

Their revenue model is essentially driven by clicks and eyeballs to their website. So the more hyped up and viral their posts are, the more web advertising revenue is created for the people behind sites like “All Singapore Stuff” and "States Time Review".

Just look at the amount of space dedicated to just advertisements (indicated by the red boxes) on and compare that to the space their actual "apology" takes up (shown by the blue box) on their HDB hoax 'apology' page. Even when apologizing for their "mistakes", they are still making money from you!

It was really only a matter of time before “All Singapore Stuff” crossed the line in their quest to boost their site’s popularity with the most outrageous anti-PAP rhetoric articles possible, as shown in this latest incident.

Will this mark the beginning of the end for “All Singapore Stuff”?
