Over-sensitive Indos cry foul over Indonesian Developer's mistake with their Promo maps for resort

Looks like some Indonesians are just itching to make mountains out of any molehills when it comes to anything related to Singapore.

Just because a Indonesian Developer Funtasy Island Development (FID) made a bit of a mistake in coloring the Indonesian island, Pulau Manis a.k.a Funtasy Island, in the same color as Singapore, there was an outcry that Singapore was somehow going to claim that island as its own.

Here's a screen-capture of the offending map from the Resort's website.

And here's the bit of the map that is the cause of this "mole-hill Mountain".

We are not sure how these rather over-reactive / over-sensitive people came to form this conclusion.

Afterall, how much weight or significance does a Resort's marketing map hold? And if they had bother to read more of the website, it would be quite clear to any one that Funtasy Island is in Indonesia.

For example, if you read the resort's write up on the Land status of the island, it's quite clear that the island belongs to Indonesia.

Anyhow, here's the news report about the MFA categorically stating that Singapore "... neither claims Pulau Manis nor contests Indonesia’s sovereignty over it.."

The MFA Statement - MFA Spokesman's comments in response to media queries on whether Singapore claims Pulau Manis, 31 May

In response to media queries on whether Singapore claims Pulau Manis, the MFA Spokesman said,
“We are deeply puzzled by these reports. Singapore has never disputed Indonesia’s sovereignty over Pulau Manis and does not lay claim to the island.”

So keep calm, and carry on Indonesia. We are not trying to 'makan' your country. We only want to visit your country for some peaceful R&R and enjoy your vast natural heritage.
