During the last general election, Sylvia Lim of Workers’ Party declared to voters at a rally on 2 September that AHPETC had managed to turn things around!
Don't lie. Ten months later in July 2016, it is still a huge mess at AHTC.
No prize for guessing but you guess right. It was a blatant lie.
Far from turning things around, we are to discover - almost a year later - from their independent accountant KPMG that the mess in AHTC not only remains, it is actually a bigger mess than we thought.
More Control Faiures identified almost one year later.
In addition to the 115 Control Failures identified by AGO, KPMG has identified another 70 Control Failures! Wow! And how is that ‘turn things around?
In an interview with The Straits Times in August 2015, Sylvia Lim also declared that they had done more than enough to account for all the lapses highlighted by AGO.
And yet, almost a year later, KPMG said they would need at least 18 months to fix all the issues. Even then, full and successful remedy is contingent upon the leadership setting the right tone at the top.

So this is what WP's leadership defines as "Transparency" & Accountability".
- Twist facts into half-truths.
- Avoid directly answering any questions about the AHPETC accounts.
- Plays up the AGO reports and claims "pot calling the kettle black".
- Offers no explanation for their statements which have been proven to be factually false.
Fabrications About The PAP - WP's statement on AGO report on government was not issued by any of the big name WP's leaders. It is because they have lost all moral authority and too clever. Instead only a low level nobody Leon is not clever enough to use his name to issue such a misleading statement to bite WP in the backside.
The government runs a huge administration employing over hundred thousand people, every year there is bound to have someone making a different mistake. These mistakes were not swept under the carpet. It was uncovered, make public and remedial steps are taken to address them. Evey cents are accounted for.
Unlike WP's management of a small Town Council. No action taken. the same lapses are uncovered year after year. Money stays unaccounted via irregular use of millions of manual journal entries, dummy codes & temporary accounts to AVOID using the account payable module.
Pritam Singh once said "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". That is good advice for the WP's leadership.
