On 1 Nov 2015, the MediShield Life Scheme took effect in Singapore. MediShield Life is a national health insurance scheme that provides lifelong protection for all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents against large medical bills.
"At my 2013 National Day Rally, I said we would revamp MediShield to give Singaporeans more peace of mind and help manage their healthcare costs.
After much hard work, planning and preparation by many Government agencies, we have just rolled out MediShield Life. Now every Singaporean will be covered for life (including those who have dropped out of the old scheme, and those with pre-existing illnesses).
