Lee Kuan Yew - In His Own Words: The Mandate To Rule

Mr Lee Kuan Yew won his first Legislative Assembly election in 1955. He became Singapore’s first Prime Minister in 1959 when Singapore obtained internal self-government from the British. Mr Lee went on to take part in 12 elections.
